The Valley of flowers trek is one of India’s most popular treks in the Himalayas. Also, it is one of India’s oldest known treks.
This is a moderate level trek, and involves long trekking days with a challenging ascent to the famous Hemkund Sahib. The trail is not technically challenging, but the total distance to cover is around 38 km within 6 days. Hence good fitness is extremely important to thoroughly enjoy what the valley has to offer.
Your fitness preparation has to start at least 30-45 days before the trek. One of the best ways to prepare is to start jogging, and aspire to cover 5 km in 40 minutes.
